Republican Women of Union County February Meeting and Installation of Officers The monthly meeting of the Republican Women of Union County was held at 1:30 pm on February 16, 2017 at Cook’s Family Restaurant. The meeting began with an Invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. Linda Hill reported an update of the Republican Women of Union County’s plan to honor We Are Still Here a North Georgia Native American group. Mr. Jim Brown, a group representative will be invited to attend the April 20th meeting in order to provide additional information. The Union County Republican party is interested in sponsoring events in conjunction with the Union Towns County Tea Party and the Republican Women of Union County. Planned events include a speech contest and the award of scholarships to local high school seniors. Possible dates and themes were discussed. Pat Thibodeaux updated the group concerning her ongoing research of E-SPLOST. “It is important that taxpayers are vigilant. I would encourage people to find out how their tax pennies are being spent,” said Pat. Louise Little announced the Board Chairmanship Appointments. Past President Rose Marie Terry installed the newly elected 2017 officers. She said, “the Republican Women of Union County was first established in 1992 and was chartered by the National and State Federation of Republican Women. Since then it has been an active club in the community.” The following officers were installed: Louise Little, President, Rose Marie Terry, First Vice-President, Deb Curlette, Second Vice-President, Linda Hill, Treasurer, Donna Towery, Secretary. The Republican Women of Union County meet the third Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be held on March 16, 2017 at 1 pm at Steve’s Steakhouse and Cookie Jar. We welcome all interested Union County women to join us at our next meeting. The Republican Women of Union County are members of the Georgia Federation of Republican Women. The objectives of this organization are to promote an informed electorate through political education, to increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government through active political participation, to foster loyalty to the Republican Party, to promote its ideals, and to work for the election of the Republican Party’s nominees.
