Mr. Stanley Steve Duckworth age 66 of Mt. Pleasant Church Rd. Cleveland, GA formerly of Union County passed away peacefully on Saturday October 13, 2018 in the North East GA Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Duckworth was born on July 25, 1952 in Young Harris, GA., the son of the late Rev. Buford Duckworth and the late Bonnie Mae Deyton Duckworth. Stanley loved fishing and spending time with his family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and also two sisters, Regina Buffington and Ellen Cagle and two brothers, Troy and Robert Duckworth. Stanley was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Duckworth are his loving wife and best friend of fifty years, Evelyn Forrester Duckworth of Cleveland, two daughters and sons in law, Sandra and Kendall Sullens of Murryville, GA., Tammy and Stacy Smith of Gainesville, two sons and one daughter in law, Dewayne and Nan Duckworth of Cleveland, Stephen Ramey of Cleveland, three sisters and brothers in law, Retha and Gene Collins of Cleveland, Shirl and Britt Herr of Cleveland, Donna and Steve Day of Atlanta, sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at 3:00 pm from the Old Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Trotter. A Eulogy will be given by his grandson Chris Daly. Special music will be presented by Tosha and Morris. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Dewayne Duckworth, Stephen Ramey, Dennis Postell, Shane Sullens, Jarriad Duckworth and Nathan Perdue. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5-9:00 pm and all day on Tuesday until 9:00 pm.

Douglas McArthur “Mac” Everett: Obituary

Mr. Douglas McArthur “Mac” Everett age 75 of Blairsville passed away peacefully on Saturday October 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family in the Grady Hospital in Atlanta following injuries received from an accident. Mac was born on November 16, 1942 in Union County the son of the late Erwin Everett and the late Hattie Satterfield Everett. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Mac owned and operated his tire shop for many years. He loved fishing, drag racing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Mac was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Loyd and Herbert Everett and two sisters, Ervelene Hedden and Roberta Drake. Mac was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Everett are his loving wife and best fiend of fifty two years, Brenda Crisp Everett of Blairsivlle, two daughters and one son in law, Deanna and Daniel Webster of Blairsville, Lisa Everett of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Ed and Loralee Everett of Blairsville, seven grandchildren, Dustin and Heather Elliott, Kaitlin Cook, Beau, Trent, Zaydee and Ty Webster,  many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2018 at 11:00 am from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Tommy Jenkins officiating. Special music will be presented by David and Jackie Chatham and Ralph Grice. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jimmy Jones, Bob Jackson, Dustin Elliott, Tommy Lovell, Greg Gibson, Toby Collins and Johnny Carroll. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Beau and Trent Webster. Interment will follow in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-9:00 pm.

Lindy Smith: Obituary

Mr. Lindy Smith age 72 of Brandy Run, Blairsville passed away at Union General Hospital following after an extended illness. Lindy was a retired building contractor and always had some type of project going. He had lived in Alaska for 15 years and enjoyed Harley motorcycles.

Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Sylvia Braxton Smith of Blairsville, one sister Cindy Smith of Haines City, Florida and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Fellowship of the Hills church and will be announced.

James Garth Moose: Obituary

 Mr. James Garth Moose age 56 of Gainesville, GA. formerly of Suches passed away peacefully on Friday October 12, 2018 in Wrightsville, GA following an extended illness. Mr. Moose was born on May 23, 1962 in Union County, the son of the late Emory Moose and the late Barbara Searcy Moose. He lived most of his life in Suches and was a 1981 Graduate of Woody Gap School. Garth loved hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, He was a loving father, brother and grandfather. Garth was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Suches.

Surviving Garth are two sons and one daughter in law, Orrin and Mayra Moose of Gainesville, Dalton Moose of Flat Rock, AL., two daughters and sons in law, BreAnna and Matt Reddit, Amber and Brian Fields all of St. Cloud, FL., two brothers, Dwayne and Stephen Moose both of Suches, five grandchildren, Culen, Leyna, Emma, Ely and Axel, several cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday October 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jeff Hamlin, Bruce Fallow, Stephen Moose, Trevor Beavers, Bobby Moose and Ben Barnes. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11-1:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Zion Church Cemetery.

Gene Clyde Reeves Sr.

June 11, 1932 – October 08, 2018

Mr. Gene Clyde Reeves Sr. age 86 of Riverside Drive Hiawassee passed away peacefully on Monday October 8, 2018 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Reeves was born on June 11, 1932 in Atlanta, GA., the son of the late John Benjamin Reeves and the late Viola McMullan Reeves. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War. He had made his home in Hiawassee for the past twenty two years moving from Jonesboro, GA. Gene loved fishing, going to auctions, country music, baseball and going to fairs. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elsie A. Fulton Reeves in 1994, his parents and six siblings. Gene was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mr. Reeves are one daughter and son in law, Leta and Robert Serpas of Jonesboro, one son and daughter in law, Clyde and Barbara Reeves of Sharpsburg, GA, one sister, Doris Carson of Forest Park, GA., three grandchildren, Robert Serpas of Savannah, Adam Serpas of Milton, GA., James Serpas of Hiawassee, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced with interment to follow in the Forest Lawn cemetery in College Park, GA. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to a favorite charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Reeves.

Mrs. Jeannette Marie Skipper age 54 of Skeenah Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday October 11, 2018 following an extended illness. Mrs. Skipper was born on Jan. 21, 1964 in Covington, GA., step-daughter of Leon Henry & daughter of Bobby Long & the late Sheila Lane Henry. Jeannette was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She loved going to thrift stores, dancing, flowers, gardening, watching her birds and most of all spending time with her family. Jeannette attended Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Skipper are her loving husband and best friend of thirty eight years, Antony Skipper of Blairsville, one daughter and son in law, Shannon and David Haynes of Blairsville, two sons, James Willis and Darryl Hutenson both of Monticello, GA., six sisters, Angie (William) Day of Covington, Angie Lackey of Winder, Roxanne (Christopher) Henry of Oxford, GA., Christy (Tabitha) Crow of Conyers, Candy (Christopher) Denier of Anderson, SC.,  Misty (Randy) Watkins of Cartersville, one brother, James Long of Mansfield, GA., nine grandchildren, Ariel and Serenity Mincey, Noah Haynes, Bella Carlile, Bailey Willis, Tristin, Sherry, Ansley and Caiden Hutchenson, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday October 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Jones and Brother William Day Sr. officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to help defray expenses in Jeannette’s memory. The family will meet with friends following the services at the church.

Roy Lee Bingham: Obituary

Mr. Roy Lee Bingham age 57 of Plott Town Rd. Young Harris passed away on Tuesday October 9, 2018 at his home following a brief illness. Roy was born on April 22, 1961 in Union County Georgia the Son of the late Roy W. and Dovie Towe Bingham, Union CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy W. & Dovie Towe Bingham, sisters Ellen Moore, Diane Simmons, and Dovie Dyer.

A 1979 Graduate of Union County High School and worked for Union County school systems. He was of the Christian faith. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Surviving Mr. Bingham includes his sisters, Blanche Patterson, Mary Holbrook, Sarah (Leroy) Anderson, Betty Brewer, and Bonnie (Phil) Tolliver, all of Blairsville GA. Brothers: Troy Joe Bingham, Hiawassee Dam NC., Tony (Angie) Bingham, NC. Brothers-in-law R.M. Dyer, Blairsville, and Don Simmons of Helen, GA., several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday October 21, 2018 at 4:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Patterson officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to help defray expenses in Roy’s memory. The family will meet with friends  following the services.
