Buddy Joe King: Obituary

Buddy Joe King, age 75, of Rowland Hill Rd., Murphy, NC formerly of Blairsville, GA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, following an extended illness. He was born December 28, 1939 in Blairsville, GA to the late Clayton Doyle and India Estelle (Helton) King. Buddy had worked as a truck driver for over 35 years with Colwell Construction Company. He loved his Lord and going to church, and was a Pastor for over 30 years. Buddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by grandchildren, Ryan Clay King and Brooke Deanna King, sisters, Sandra King Payne and Dorothy King Payne, brother, Charles William King, son, Pete King, daughter, Debra Gable and his first wife, Betty Cantrell King. Buddy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy King of Murphy, NC, son, Doug King of Blairsville, GA, daughter, Rhonda and Doug Webb of Blairsville, GA, daughter, Amy King of Blairsville, GA, step-son, Tim and Lucy Hopkins of Marble, NC, step-son, Johnny and Amy Hopkins of Broadhead, Ky, step-daughter, Christy and Sammy Berrong of Murphy, NC, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Ray Potts officiating. Music will be by Benny and Susan Shook. Pallbearers will be Vick Botts, Chance Botts, Darren Payne, Tim Hopkins, Johnny Hopkins and Sammy Berrong. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers make contributions to help defray expenses.
