Mr. Robert William Dwyer Sr., age 83, of Faith Acres Rd., Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness. He was born January 4, 1932, in Chicago, IL to the late James Patrick and Martyne Ruth (Owen) Dwyer. Mr. Dwyer was a retired U. S. Air Force Master Sgt. and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He loved genealogy and wrote several books on the family. Mr. Dwyer was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Elaine Dwyer and sister, Martyne Jokela and brother-in-law, Rei Jokela. He was of the Pentecostal Faith. Survivors include his wife, Mary Dwyer of Blairsville, GA, children, Sharon Dwyer of Blairsville, GA, Robert and Kim Dwyer of Clermont, GA, Michael and Kim Dwyer of Blairsville, GA and Pat and Gerald Cook of Sautee-Nacoochee, GA, brothers, Jim Dwyer of Chicago, Il, Thomas and Betty Dwyer of Blairsville, GA, Kevin Dwyer of Carrollton, GA and Frank McMonigle of Fl, sister, Helen and Jim Allen of Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren, Kent Cook, Melissa Hester, Kari Carpenter, Kassie Hulsey, Wyndi Wyatt and Wesley Dwyer, nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Flynn officiating. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Carpenter, Kent Cook, Wesley Dwyer, Chris Hester, Bryon McCombs and Howard McCombs. Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Hulsey. Interment will follow in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
