Mr. Albert Forest Cook age 78 of Trackrock Church Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday Feb. 22, 2016 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Cook was born on Jan. 28, 1938 in Union County, the son of the late Avery Forest Cook and the late Vina Thomas Cook. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County and was a veteran of the US Army and Coast Guard. Albert loved his two dogs, Toby and Lady. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen DeBoer Cook in 2004 and three brothers, E.L., Travis and Herbert Cook. Albert was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Cook are one sister, Vivian Cook of Blairsville, two brothers and sisters in law, Eugene and Ruby Cook of Blairsville, James and Sue Cook of Blairsville, thirteen grandchildren, several nieces, nephews many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Friday Feb. 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Harley Hunter officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Darrell, Gerald, Barney, Jerry, Loy and Kenneth Cook. Interment will follow in the Trackrock Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted of if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Albert’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
