Eva June Grounds, age 80, of Blairsville, GA and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, FL, passed away on April 10, 2016.
She was born on February 27, 1936 in Flat River, MO to the late John L. and Mabel Worley Seal. June spent her professional career working in the Municipal Court of Fort Lauderdale and as a legal secretary for the Fort Lauderdale Police Legal Advisor, and later for several private legal firms, before joining her husband in retirement and relocating to Blairsville. She was an accomplished musician, and spent decades volunteering as a vocalist and pianist for her church choirs.
She is survived by her children, Terri Tucker, Lori Korn, and Jay Grounds (Lynn), along with grandchildren Matthew Peets, Jana Grounds, Alyssa Grubb (Kevin), Kristina Shockley (Chad), and Jenifer Grounds, as well as great-grandchildren Evan, Mason, Ella, and Sophia Peets.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Lazy R Personal Care Center and Compassus Hospice, and requests that in lieu of a formal memorial service or flowers, donations be sent in June’s memory to Compassus Hospice, 583 Highland Crossing, Suite 120, East Ellijay, GA 30540 or to the Alzheimer’s Association via their website at alz.org.
