Mr. Robert Ellis Forney: Obituary

Robert Ellis Forney of Morganton passed away April 11, 2016. He was born in Reading Pennsylvania, the son of Robert W. and Miriam S. Forney on February 9, 1937.

After serving in the United States Air Force, Robert earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Specialist’s degree. His professional experiences included teaching for Chatham County Schools, Assistant Superintendent for Coffee County Schools, Consultant for the Florida Dept. of Education’s Migrant Education Program, and Director of Maintenance and Operations for the Manatee County School System. In addition, Robert was an active member of many educational organizations, the Exchange Club, a Cub Scout volunteer, and delivered Meals on Wheels. He loved family, friends, and fishing, and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, his three children, their families and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 16, 2016 at 4:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel. Military honors will be presented by the North GA Honor Guard. Interment and graveside services will be held on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 2:30 pm from the Georgia National Cemetery with US Air Force conducting Military Honors. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home from 3-4:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
