Mr. Paul Allen Allums: Obituary

On Sunday morning, May 15, 2016, Paul Allen Allums’ struggle with cancer came to an end. He was born in Bastrop LA on January 4, 1933 to the late Louis Baker Allums and Ethel Lucile Neal. Paul was raised in Louisiana, moving to Alabama and then onto Florida. He enlisted in the military in 1953 and spent 6 years in the 101st Airborne Division, the Screaming Eagles.

After his military service he settled in Florida where he eventually met and married his wife Patricia. Paul was a Certified General Contractor in Florida for many years. In 2006 he and Pat left St. Petersburg and retired to Hiawassee, GA where he enjoyed remodeling their home when the two weren’t traveling the USA, including Alaska in their motor home.

Paul’s devotion to his family will be missed by those surviving, especially his wife and best friend of 49 years, Patricia Weaver Allums of Hiawassee, Georgia. He is also survived by brothers Lawrence and Richard of Antioch, CA and sisters Margaret Day of Palatka, FL and Rose Russell of Portland ME. His children, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts include Elise Nowikowski (Greg) of Jacksonville, Fl; Laura Suga (Sheldon) of Duck Key, FL; Paula Sue Sherbrook(Keith) of Snow Camp, NC; Bruce Allums (Erica) of St. Petersburg, FL; Stephen Allums of St. Petersburg, Fl; Scott Allums (Paula) of Graham, NC; Eric Allums (Elma) of FL . He will also be missed by his 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
