Mrs. Martha Idell Hunter Brackett: Obituary

Mrs. Martha Idell Hunter Brackett, age 94, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016, in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.

Mrs. Brackett was born in Blairsville on July 15, 1922, a daughter of the late John E. Hunter and the late Cordie Collins Hunter. She treasured her family and friends, and enjoyed quilting, along with gardening and walking. Besides her parents, Mrs. Brackett had been preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Loy Brackett, and a sister, Irene Wiggins.

Surviving family members include her daughter, Betty Knight, of Metairie, Louisiana; two sisters, Lorraine Brackett, of Blairsville, and Ollie Kimsey, of Hiawassee; two brothers: John L. Hunter, and Neil Hunter, both of Atlanta; grandson, Alan Knight; granddaughter and her husband, Heather and Craig Moore; great grandchildren: Connor, Addie, and Quintin Moore; and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. Burial will be in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, where Mrs. Brackett will be laid to rest next to her beloved late husband Loy. Visitation will be held for one hour before the funeral services begin on Tuesday, August 2nd.
