Mr. John Wilson McGuire: Obituary

Mr. John Wilson McGuire, age 33, of Decatur, GA., passed away on Sunday July 24, 2016. John was born on June 30, 1983 in Plantation, FL, the son of John Paul and Dawn Allison McGuire. John will undoubtedly be remembered for two defining characteristics: His incredible sense of humor which was always quick, unique, and quite often irreverent. It was a gift he imparted to everyone around him who could not help but be filled with laughter and uplifted by his comedic gifts. The second characteristic was his abundant love for his children–Magnolia and Cal–and his life partner and best friend, Amanda Minton.

Other survivors include sister Mary Rose McGuire of Ft. Lauderdale, FL: grandfather, Buddy Klein of Islamorada, FL; aunts and uncles, Kevin and Alida McGuire, Ava Favara all of NY: Kerry and Denise Dalzell McGuire of VT; Diane McGuire of NY; cousins, Christine Favara Monti, Maureen Vincent, Laura Napolitano, John Favara, Jeannie Kennedy, Maria Simpson, Kieran McGuire, Sean McGuire, and Colin McGuire. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday August 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Father Juan Areiza officiating. Special music will be presented by Jerry Aull.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) in John’s memory.

The family will meet with friends and family following Friday’s Mass. A celebration of John’s life will be held in Decatur, GA on Sunday, August 7, and a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Huntington, New York, with burial to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY.
