Mrs. Susie Mae Hood Henderson: Obituary

Mrs. Susie Mae Hood Henderson age 87 of Blairsville passed away peacefully on Sunday January 15, 2017 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Henderson was born on May 28, 1929 in Union County, the daughter of the late John Calvin Hood and the late Mamie Ledford Hood. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Susie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Henderson in 2002, a daughter, Helen Lee Henderson Sparks in 2004, two brothers, Alton and Clarence Hood, five sisters, Donaline Lewis, Kate Lunsford, Johnnie Evans, Margie Rowell and Callie Jordan. Mrs. Henderson was a member of Revival Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Henderson are one son and daughter in law, Sheldon and Nelle Henderson of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Jamey Sparks and Davy and wife Lisa Henderson, one great grandchild, Chelsea Sparks and one great-great grandchild, Sophia, a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Seay officiating. Special music will be presented by The Henderson Family. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Arthur Jordan, John Bilbo, Dennis Bradley, Kenneth Bradley, Milton Bradley and Davy Henderson. Interment will follow in the Henderson Family Cemetery where she will rest next to beloved husband, Oscar. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9:00 pm.
