Mrs. Marcia Meadows Cook: Obituary

Mrs. Marcia Meadows Cook, age sixty five, of Blairsville, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22nd, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family following an extended illness.

Marcia was born on March 3rd, 1951, in Marietta, GA, the daughter of the late Dorothy Meadows Senter and the late Roy Meadows. Marcia loved the church, her family, and especially her two grand children. She previously worked at banks in Marietta, GA, and Murphy, NC, and Parker Drug Store in Murphy, NC, before attending nursing school and becoming a registered nurse. She worked at Good Shepard Home Health as a hospice nurse and retired from Union General Hospital with health issues in 2012. Marcia was also preceded in death by her step-father Paul K. Senter.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty five years, Gary A. Cook and three sons: Jonathan Cook (Tiffany) of Blairsville, GA, Nathaniel Cook (Liza Anne) of Simpsonville, SC, and Matthew Cook (Dawn) of Wilmington, NC, and two grand children: Mahayla Cook of Blairsville, GA, and Wilson Cook of Simpsonville, SC. In addition, she is survived by brother John Meadows (Vicki) of Marietta, GA, sister Kim Morton (Tom) of Kennesaw, GA, step-sister Starla Watson (Tony) of Marietta, GA, step-brother Rodger Senter (Gayle) of Clemmons, NC, step-brother Doug Senter (Ellen) of Columbia, SC, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Cline officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 24 from 5-8:00 pm at the Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Regency Hospice in Marcia’s memory.
