Mr. Virgil P. Farrar age 74 of Blairsville passed away peacefully at the Union County Nursing Home on Sunday April 23, 2017. Mr. Farrar was born October 4, 1942 in Atlanta GA, the son of the late Virgil Payne Farrar and the late Sara Green. Virgil grew up in Marietta, GA and has lived in Blairsville for 9 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith and enjoyed going to church, playing clarinet in the orchestra and singing in the choir, as well as being a veteran in the US Navy and a member of the North Georgia Honor Guard.
Surviving Mr. Farrar is his loving son Frazure Farrar (Kim Shapland), his granddaughter Halee Shapland of Canton GA, his sister and brother-in-law Sally and Jack Daniel of Milledgeville, and special friend Charlotte Lyons of Young Harris. Nieces, great-nieces and many others survive.
Interment will be held on Friday April 28, 2017 at 2:30 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery with military honors by US Navy. A memorial service will be held Wednesday May 3, 2017 at 2:00 at the First Baptist Church of Blairsville in the Rock Chapel.
