District Attorney Jeff Langley hosts fund raiser on Sunday with guests GA Senator Hunter Hill and GA Representative Buzz Brockway

Blairsville, GA – Enotah Circuit District Attorney Jeff Langley, incumbent, hosted a fund raiser for his campaign for reelection on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the G&G Bakery and Café in Blairsville, GA. Langley’s fund raiser was run completely by volunteers who provided the venue, food and drink, served the food, manned the registry and bussed the tables. There were quite a few tables to bus, too, with a crowd of about 120 -140 supporters.

Georgia State Senator Hunter Hill, who has entered the Georgia Governor’s race, was on hand to wish Langley well and campaign a bit; as was Georgia State Representative Buzz Brockway, who has entered the race for Georgia Secretary of State.

Among the supporters was former Georgia State Representative Stephen Allison, Union County Sole Commissioner Lamar Paris, Union County Sheriff Mack Mason and Mayor Pro Tem Liz Ordiales of Hiawassee, Towns County, GA (Towns Co. is within the Enotah Circuit).

Once the majority of supporters and guests had gotten through the food line and were seated, Langley took the stage. He said when he does his job right, he doesn’t always make everyone happy, but such is the nature of his work. He said he wasn’t sure if there would be an opponent next year or not, but he wanted and needed to be ready every four years no matter what the case. He said he wants to and strives to serve (the community). Langley thanked his campaign volunteers and encouraged anyone interested in volunteering to make their intentions known. He then introduced Senator Hunter Hill.

Hill emphasized the importance of having someone of high integrity in the Office of District Attorney and wished Langley well in his campaign. Hill went on to thank the people of Blairsville for being there and for the opportunity to get to know the people of North Georgia. He said he is a Christian and that his leadership starts with the Lord. He said he strongly believes in the Constitution and our Founding Principles and Values. He said that, over time, those Principles and Values can be eroded and that we need people in government who are willing to “stand in the gap and fight for our Founding Values and Principles”. Things like limited government, free enterprise and individual responsibility are what inspired him, he said, to get into government in the first place. He said he takes the similar oaths he gave in military service and in government service, to defend our way of life against all enemies both foreign and domestic, very seriously. He said he was there in support of Jeff Langley and thanked Langley for the opportunity to appear before the people of Blairsville. After a short Q & A session, Langley introduced Representative Buzz Brockway.

Brockway said he also was there in support of Langley. He said Langley has done a great job as District Attorney. Brockway went on to say that he is running for Secretary of State because he is extremely concerned with partisan politics and the lengths some politicians will go to subvert the election process, to use the courts as political tools and to twist legislation for partisan advantage. He said this is why a lot of people today have lost faith in our government, and, as Secretary of State in Georgia, he would spare no effort to reverse this trend. Brockway also mentioned his concerns with the burden of professional licensing, another area of purview that the Secretary of State handles. He said some of that licensing has gone way past safety concerns of the public and has become an encumbrance to those who aspire to get licensed in their field. Brockway, again, thanked Langley for the opportunity to speak before the people of Blairsville and wished him well.
