Mrs. Kathryn Frankie Duckworth age 72 of Blairsville passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday July 17, 2017 following a long battle with cancer. Kathryn was born on Feb. 3, 1945 in Union County, the daughter of the late Jess Payne and the late Hattie Young Payne. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Kathryn was an avid Bible Reader having read her Bible through several times and was a prayer warrior. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family and listening to country music. She touched many lives over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents and by three brothers, Jackie, Jimmy and Jeanice Payne, a sister, Susan Payne. Kathryn was a member of the Blairsville Church of Christ.
Surviving Mrs. Duckworth are one daughter and son in law, Marisa (Reecie) and Randy Crowley of Blairsville, five sisters and one brother in law, Jodie Buchanan of Blairsville, Edith Davis of Marble, NC., Ida and Rev. Martin Davis of Clarksville, GA., Debbie Burger of Murphy, Becky Moore of Murphy, friend and caregiver, Kim Chitwood of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Dawson and Dayton Crowley, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Martin Davis and Minister Terry Stuart officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Shelby Adams, Harvey Marlow, Jake Chastain, Larry Cook, Vance Collins, Avery Cook, Michael Lirette and Daniel Fortenberry. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dawson and Dayton Crowley, James Buchanan and Randy Crowley. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, donations may be made to help defray expenses in Kathryn’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-9:00 pm.
