Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Suell Benjamin Souther, age 82, of Ivy Log Road, Blairsville, passed away early Tuesday morning August 8, 2017 at Hayesville House in Hayesville, NC.
Mr. Souther was born in Blairsville, a son of the late Paul and the late Sarah Mabel Souther. He remained a lifelong resident of Blairsville, and was a member and deacon of Smyrna Baptist Church. Suell was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred; a great grandson, Jake Gibson; and two sisters-in-law: Willa Mae Souther and Christie Souther.
Mr. Souther will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but especially by his loving family members: son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Bryan and Helen Souther; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Vernon Barnes; and daughter, Deborah Stepp; all of Blairsville; brothers: Charles Souther of Huntsville, Alabama, and Buell Souther of Dallas, Georgia; seven grandchildren and their spouses: Monica (Tony) Gilbert; Brad (Nicole) Barnes; Derek (Nicky) Stepp; Dana (Adam) Fleming; Josh (Kasey) Stepp; Amber (Matthew) Gibson; and Kerri (Darren) Bradshaw; thirteen great grandchildren: Samuel Gilbert, Micah Gilbert, Hunter Fleming, Ayla Stepp, Layla Stepp, Holten Fleming, Baylie Gibson, Lyla Stepp, Isaiah Stepp, Colbee Gibson, Brielle Barnes, Brynlee Barnes, and Liam Bradshaw.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, August 11, 2017, at 4:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. The following grandsons have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Brad Barnes, Derek Stepp, Josh Stepp, Samuel Gilbert, Micah Gilbert, Hunter Fleming, and Holten Fleming; and grandsons-in-law Adam Fleming, Darren Bradshaw and Matthew Gibson. Burial will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, after 12 noon, with the family especially meeting with friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
