Jay” Troy” Wheeler: Obituary

Mr. Jay” Troy” Wheeler age 71 of Bell Lane, Morganton passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday June 22, 2018 following an extended illness. Mr. Wheeler was born on July 14, 1946 in Blue Ridge, GA., the son of the late Sam Wheeler and the late Grace Rogers Wheeler. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. Troy was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War. He loved riding horses and coon hunting in his spare time. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.  Troy was a member of Young Cane Masonic Lodge #597 F&AM. Mr. Wheeler was a member of Liberty Hill Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Wheeler are one daughter and son in law, Shana and Shawn Dyer of Blairsville, two sons and daughters in law, Adam and Lynn Wheeler of Ellijay, Dakota and Courtney Wheeler of Blairsville, one stepson, Dustin Rogers of Blairsville, two sisters and brother in law, Sammie and Steve Leard and Elizabeth Payne all of Blairsville, seven grandchildren, T.J. and Bridget Burgess, Taylor and Amanda Burgess, Sheyenne Dyer, Seth Wheeler, Allie Wheeler, Raegan Wheeler and Caleb Wheeler, eight great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday June 24, 2018 at 4:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Kurt Ledford and Rev. Trammel Rhodes officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, T.J. Burgess, Taylor Burgess, Vic Payne, Charles Hughes, Shane Payne and Dustin Rogers. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Methodist Church cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Troy’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-9:00 pm.
