Mr. Kenneth Douglas Wilder age 79 of Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully on Sunday November 18, 2018 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Wilder was born on Feb. 2, 1939 in Elberton, GA., the son of the late James Floyd Wilder and the late Martha Mozelle Brady Wilder. He was a veteran of the US Navy with over twenty four years of service to his Country and retired as a Senior Chief. Kenneth loved restoring old cars ( served as past President of the Elberton Car Club,” Steel Cruisin”), traveling with his wife Doris, working in his machine shop, was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and was self taught to play the banjo. He was very active in Scouting and was an Eagle Scout and had served as Scout Master for many years. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Karson Wilder and Jamie Hale and a brother, Buck Wilder. Kenneth was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving Mr. Wilder are his loving wife and best friend of forty five years, Doris Schmitz Wilder of Blairsville, three sons and daughters in law, Scott and Angela Wilder of Douglasville, GA., Keith and Kim Wilder of Smyrna, TN., Konrad and Carrie Wilder of Rock Hill, SC., two daughters and one son in law, LaDonna and Steve Hale of Marietta, GA., Deanna Jorgensen of Blairsville, one sister and brother in law, Christine and Jeff Corbett of Lizella, GA., ten grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 10:00 am from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Burgess and Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Military Honors will be conducted by the North GA Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Boy Scout Troop 101 at First United Methodist Church in Mr. Wilder’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00-10:00 am.
