Tax Appraisers State Property Reevaluation to Resume After Fall

BLAIRSVILLE, GA – In a quick Tax Appraiser meeting, the board confirmed that the reassessing of county property by GMASS will resume after the fall season and building permits are up.

GMASS wanted to wait until the leaves have fallen to accurately reevaluate property values due to the inability to enter the gated properties around the county.

It will take approximately two years to complete the property reevaluation, and then the county will be back in compliance with the state for property values.

20 building permits were issued for houses in August, 3 for SPEC houses, and 58 for miscellaneous use. It’s up from previous years and noticeable throughout the county with rental properties becoming harder to find for tourists.

The appraisers approved the ABOS schedule update and ACO Summary Batch Report.

Union County also received news from the state the 2019 digest was approved on September 9.
