Scary Good Times at Hometown Halloween

BLAIRSVILLE, GA – Unicorns, superheroes, villains, and the undead turned out in droves for Blairsville’s  Hometown Halloween on the Square. Ready to scare or laugh, no one seemed to mind that rain moved the event from Oct. 31 to Nov 2.

Beginning at 6 p.m. and going until 8 p.m., hundreds of families made their way around the square to satisfy the parents and children’s sweet tooth. Over 60 local businesses were on-site to hand out candy or play games with Union County’s ghosts and goblins.

For the brave at heart, Union County High School Performing Arts students hosted a haunted house at old Fort Sorghum until 10 with costume shows for the children and marshmallow roasting.

On the other side of the square, First Baptist hosted a trunk or treat for those who wanted to continue sugar rush after making the rounds on the square.

The square was closed to traffic from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. to give a true Halloweentown experience to all attendees. The event is hosted by the Downtown Development Authority and happens every Halloween.
