Joseph Gene Rogers: Obituary

Mr. Joseph Gene Rogers age 78 of J England Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully on Sunday February 2, 2020 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Rogers was born on June 14, 1941 in Blue Ridge, GA., the son of the late Talmadge Rogers and the late Ruby Garrett Rogers. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and was a veteran of the US Navy. Gene loved fishing, woodworking and traveling. He was a Diesel Mechanic by trade and had been employed with Lance Trucking Company and Kelley Construction Company for many years. Gene was a friend to all and he will be greatly missed. Gene was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Rogers are three sisters and brothers in law, Sarah and Frank Owenby of Blairsville, Martha and Alan Plott of Blairsville, Ruth and Leonard Hedrick of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister in law, Tommy and Barbara Rogers of Blairsville, Jimmy Rogers of Blue Ridge, special friends, Christie and Jason Lee of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday February 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dell Tanner officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Tim Bohannon, Steven Owenby, Allen Plott, Travis Gibson, Anthony Bohannon and Leonard Hedrick. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends following the services.
