Panthers QB Caiden Tanner Lights Up Indians Secondary in Big Win

QB Caiden Tanner had himself a night for Union County as he threw for five touchdowns in the Panthers big 49-7 victory over Towns County. Union County wasted no time in this one as they tallied an impressive five touchdowns in a dominant first quarter. They would wrap up their scoring with two more touchdowns before the half and would go on to win this one 49-7. This is a big statement win for the Panthers after losing on the road to Lumpkin County the game before. The Tanner-led offense has averaged 42 PPG this season. Though it’s not all bad news for Towns County as they scored a season-high in points on Friday night…

Team Notes

Tanner needed just 16 tried to finish with 191 yards and five touchdowns in the air. He completed 13 of his 16 passes while also adding another 66 yards on the ground. Sr. Braylen Rader added two touchdowns on the ground and led the ground game with 67 yards on eight carries. He would also be on the receiving end of one of Tanner’s touchdown passes. Tyler Grasty led the way for the Panthers receivers as he finished with 81 yards on four catches and finished with two touchdowns. So. Cade Dockery and Jr. Connor Schuknecht would each bring in a touchdown pass from Tanner.

The defense deserves just as much recognition as the offense as Union County dominated on both sides of the ball. The Panthers defense would tally 11.5 TFL and four sacks. Sr. LB Seth Ruthan led the defense with nine tackles while Dlineman Lane Lance led the team with three TFL.

As for the Towns County Indians, there is not much to speak of other than they couldn’t get out of Blairsville fast enough. The Indians have now mustered just nine points through their teams first three games and have allowed at least 27 points in each game this season. Neither Maxpreps nor Hudl had individual stats posted for Towns County at the time of this article.

Looking Ahead

The 0-3 Indians will head into their Bye Week hoping to find a way to flip the script on the season as they host the 2-1 Coosa Eagles on 9/15. Union County will play at home this Friday night against the 1-1 Armuchee Indians.
