Mrs. Doris Stillwell: Obituary

Doris O. Wyne (Wine)/Cadenhead/Stillwell was born on July 7, 1930 in Washington, D.C., in the shadow of the Capitol. She was raised in the Capitol Hill Metropolitan Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her Savior when she was nine years of age. From that time forward she never passed an opportunity to testify about Jesus. She was married in 1950 to Dr. Max Cadenhead. To this union were born three children: Darlene O. Mitchell, Rev. Jerry D. Cadenhead, and Cindy K. Cadenhead. Max and Doris attended Bob Jones University. He transferred to Baylor University and then graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with an RE Degree. Together they served churches in Michigan under the Southern Baptist Convention and in Florida. Doris served on the State Board of Missions and on other committees for the Florida Baptist Convention. She went on multiple world mission trips and served the International Mission Board in Nigeria after the death of her husband, Max Cadenhead. In July of 1995, she was married to another pastor, Charles R. (Dick) Stillwell. The served churches in Missouri, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. Doris was an active member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, Georgia, and was active in Mission Activities, the Senior Adult Choir and the Senior Adult ministry and Bible Study. She also loved to help in the Feed the Hungry ministry of the church. Doris was preceded in death by her father, R. Frank Wyne, just before her birth; her mother, Olivia Jane Alexander/Wyne. One sister, Gloria V. Grauman; four brothers, Roy Franklin Wyne, Rev. Jack M. Wyne, C. Burton Wyne, and Richard Lawson Wyne. She was also preceded in death by one step-son, John Mark Stillwell.

She is survived by her husband, Pastor Dick Stillwell of home; One sister-in-law, Nancy Wyne, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, who was like her own sister.

She is also survived by three children: Mrs. Darlene O. Mitchell and her husband Greg Mitchell, of Naples, Florida; Rev. Jerry D. Cadenhead and his wife Jini and children, who are former Missionaries for the International Mission Board of the S.B.C. and are now living in Malakoff, TX; and Cindy K. Cadenhead of Young Harris, Georgia; One step-daughter, Mrs. Brenda K. Stillwell and husband Philip Childers and their three children of Katy, TX. Together Dick and Doris have seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Plus a multitude of friends around the world. She often quipped, “What would we do without our church families…”Doris and Dick moved to the mountains of North Georgia in the year 2000. Her favorite saying and scripture was: “I will life up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help….” Psalms 121:1 FF

Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, April 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., to be held in First Baptist Church of Blairsville Main Sanctuary with Rev. Jerry Cadenhead, Rev. Derrick Hartley, and Rev. Dick Stillwell officiating. Special music will be presented by Ed and Frances Lawrie, Rev. Derrick Hartley, Jessi Cadenhead Crawford, and the Senior Adult Choir, and pianist Mrs. Jackie Hill. Grandchildren have the honor as serving as pallbearers. Asked to serve as honorary escort to the family are members of C.R. Collins Sunday School Class and members of Joy Sunday School Class. Burial will be in Dover, Florida. The family will meet with friends starting on Friday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to First Baptist Church Feed the Hungry.
