Mrs. Ruth Jean Handy: Obituary

Mrs. Ruth Jean Handy age 91 of Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home on Monday November 13, 2017 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Handy was born on May 17, 1926 in Cohoes, NY., the daughter of the late George Leonard and the late Vivian Lafortune Leonard. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert B Handy Sr. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Surviving Mrs. Handy are her children, Susan and Richard Despres of Monroe, GA., Patricia and Terry Kelsey of Cornelius, NC., Robert and Judy Handy Jr. of Phoenix, NY. and Debbie and Tim Savery of Blairsville, as well as thirteen grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren also her 5 fur babies who miss her greatly. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Humane Society’s Mountain Shelter in Mrs. Handy’s memory.
