Union County Earns First Win Under Coach Stowe, Tops Murray County 27–7

 

CHATTANOOGA VALLEY, Ga. — The Union County Panthers gave first-year Panther head coach Rob Stowe a night to remember Friday, rolling past Murray County 27–7 to notch both their first win of the season and Stowe’s first victory in the Union purple and Gold.

 

The Panthers struck early when Bentley Rich powered into the end zone from five yards out in the opening quarter. Union added to its lead in the second when Daniel McPhee took a jet sweep 15 yards for another score, giving the visitors a 14–0 advantage at the break.

 

After halftime, Union put the game out of reach with a commanding 99-yard drive capped by another Rich touchdown. Moments later, a Murray County fumble on the kickoff set the stage for quarterback Kamden Kendrick, who found Mikey Davis downfield to extend the margin.

 

Rich delivered a complete performance, finishing with 135 rushing yards and three sacks on defense. McPhee added 50 yards on the ground along with several key plays in the secondary.

 

Murray County managed just one late touchdown, but by then the outcome was no longer in doubt.

 

The win marked a milestone for Stowe, who took over the Panthers’ program this offseason.

With the victory, Union County improved to 1–2 overall, while Murray County slipped to 2–2.

 

The Panthers return home next Friday to face Rockmart in a key region matchup. Murray County will look to regroup when it hosts North Murray.
