(Towns County, GA) – – Steady offensive scoring and defense are the forces Union County’s Panthers used to maintain the a consistent lead and keep Polk County’s Wildcats in check. Union County outscored Polk County by five points in each period expect the fourth where they were outscored. Union County’s Ariel McCarter paced the Panthers with an average of six points per period and Kamryn Mull made a few 3-pointers to keep the offensive strength. Polk County’s Wildcats dug deep to chew into the Union County lead with Callie Brewer who buried several 3-pointers, which were not enough to overcome the Panthers. The Wildcats had too many fouls that placed Union County on the line. The Panthers did not miss their free throws, which helped secure the Day 1 win.
