Mrs. Barbara Ann Hogan age 76 of Blairsville passed away on Friday May 12, 2017 in the North East Ga. Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mrs. Hogan was born on Nov. 20, 1940 in Quincy, MA., the daughter of the late James Bell and the late Nora Twomey Bell. Barbara loved Blairsville and her many friends and neighbors. She also was passionate about horses and photography. She was a very strong willed person who overcame many obstacles throughout her life and always bounced back whatever life threw at her. She had been a teacher for over twenty years and after her retirement she was a Sub for the Union County School System at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Richard Hogan in 2016, a son, Sean Hogan and a brother, Jimmy Bell. Barbara was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Surviving Mrs. Hogan are one daughter and son in law, Patricia (Tricia) and Brian McElhone of St. Augustine, FL., two sons and one daughter in law, Matthew Hogan of Cary, NC., Patrick and Jamie Hogan of Deltona, FL., two grandchildren, Conor and Karah, a host of church family, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at a later date in Florida with interment to follow in the Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband Patrick and son, Sean. In lieu of flowers if you wish the family requests that donations may be made to your local Elementary School Art Teacher. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
