Mr. Bobby Gene Young age 83 of Blairsville GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 26, 2017 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mr. Young was born on March 18, 1934 in Panama City, FL, the son of the late Fay O. Young and the late Mary Chamrad Young. Bobby was a veteran of the US Air Force. He had retired from the US Forest Service as a District Ranger with over thirty-five years of services. He was an avid golfer and had worked as Golf Course Superintendent for over ten years at Butternut Creek Golf Course. Bobby was an active member and past President of the Union County Lions Club for the past several years. He loved working and being outdoors. Bobby was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charletta Cooper Young in 1983, his parents and also a brother, Fay Young, and two sisters, Mary Lee Young Winston and Rita Jo Young Neblet. Bobby was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County.

Surviving Mr. Young are his loving wife and best friend of thirty-two years, Carolyn Cochran Young of Blairsville, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Brad and Kathy Young of Sharpsburg, GA., Greg and Debbie Young of Cumming, GA., Matthew Brown of Macon, GA, one daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Jay Geddings of Tryon, NC, one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Patsy Young of Hattiesburg, MS, nine grandchildren, Jacob, Benjamin, Taylor Ann, Blake, Grant, Bobby Gage, Letta, Jackson and Madison, several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Burgess officiating. Special music will be presented by Jeff Bauman and Keith DeFoor. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Ervin Martin, Jim Baggett, Danny Kendrick and Bob Short. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church/ MAC or American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Young. The family will meet with friends at the church on Saturday Nov. 4, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the services. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
