The Union County Panthers took on Putnam County War Eagles in a region 8-AA game Friday night. Union would come in very sluggish in the first half, but a football game is two halfs for a reason. Either way the Panthers are rolling right now.

The War Eagles would get the ball first and drive it down the field, but the Panthers defense would hunker down and force a turnover on their own 11 yard line. Union’s offense would take a half to get geared up like they usually are, however Senior Kicker, Brian Smith would hit two big field goals and Junior Wide Receiver would take a touchdown in from 27 yards out. One of Brian’s field goals was set up by 1 of 2 blocked punts by Chayton Schafer. The whole game was huge for Sloan Sutton especially the first half. He flew around and made plays that most players can not make. The Panthers would go into the break with a 13-0 advantage.

The sluggish start would carry into the 3rd quarter for the Panthers on their first possession, but Pierson Allison would quickly lead them out of it. Pierson would march them down the field and find Kannon Hemphill for a 8 yard touchdown to take the score to 20-0 in favor of the Panthers. After another special teams flaw by the War Eagles resulted in another strink to Kannon to go up 27-o. Next Union possession Allison would find Sawyer Drake for a 71 yard touchdown. Chayton Schaffer would block another punt and give the Panthers another opportunity to score. Next up for the Panthers to score was Sophomore running back, Jonah Daniel. Jonah would not only score once or twice, but he would rush for three touchdowns. These touchdowns would bring the score to 55-0 and give the Panthers their biggest shut-out victory in school history.
