Mrs. Barbara Sue Smith, age 62, of Cow Trail Lane Blairsville, passed away on Thursday November 14, 2019 in Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born on March 14, 1957 in Suches, GA the daughter of the late Clyde Andrews Meers & late Reba Beatrice Sisum. Barbara was very family oriented; she loved her grandchildren, and had been called mom by many others. She loved being outdoors, especially when it came to either fishing or camping. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Vernon Smith in 2006. . She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church

Surviving Mrs. Smith is her three children, David Hughes of Blairsville, Brian & Danielle(Flanagan) Smith of Blairsville, Tasha Smith of Andrews, NC., three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Linda & Edward Young of Blairsville, Mary Hicks of Blairsville, Sonya & John Walter of Blairsville, two brothers, Jackie Meers of Canton, GA., and Johnny Meers of Blairsville. The following grandchildren also survive: Madison Hughes, Conner Hughes, Camden Smith, Eva Smith, Hannah Smith, Rosaleah Smith, Emily Smith, Kelsey Cantrell, Peyton Smith, and Aaron Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 16, 2019 at 3:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Larry Trulove & Rev. Ernie Kamber officiating. Special music will be presented by the Friendship Baptist Church Choir. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers David Hicks, Brandon Hicks, Chuck Young, Glen Young, Richard Brown, and Shawn Wilson. Interment will follow in Cooper’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted, or if you wish the family requests that donations be made to help defray expenses in Barbara’s memory. The family will meet with friends on Friday evening from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
