Roy Lee Cook: Obituary

    Mr. Roy Lee Cook age 74 of. Young Harris passed away peacefully Friday, January 17, 2020 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr Cook. was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War. Roy loved watching westerns on TV. He loved all of the staff in the nursing home and enjoyed joking with them. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Patterson Cook in 2016, his parents and also two brothers, Don Cook and Wayne Cook. Roy was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Cook are one daughter and son in law, Marie and Daniel Dockery of Young Harris, two sons and one daughter in law, Roy and Jennie Cook Jr. of Marble, NC., Tim Roper of Blairsville, two sisters, two brothers, six grandchildren:  Heather, Alison and Rylee Cook, Stephen Richardson, Emily and Erin Roper, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery with the North Georgia Honor Guard presenting Military Honors. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers: Larry Cook, Dean Cook, Eddie Terry, Wesley Cook, Jack Cook, Josh Cook, and honorary pallbearers: Johnny Cook, Don Terry, and Daniel Dockery. The family will meet with friends Sunday evening from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
