Mrs. Dorothy Lewis age 93 of Ray Lewis Road, Blairsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 22, 2016 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Lewis was born on April 10, 1922 in Clay County, NC., the daughter of the late Carl Martin and the late Mae Mease Martin. She had spent most of her life in Union County. Dorothy loved children, cooking, always taking care of others and working on the farm. She was always very active in her church and loved her Lord. She was a loving sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray B. Lewis in 1998, three brothers, Zeb, Harold and Ray Martin and two sisters, Faye Martin and Ruth Daniel.

Mrs. Lewis was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Lewis are two sisters and brother in law, Anna Mae Jones of Hayesville, Henrietta and Alvin Ledford of Hayesville, two brothers and sisters in law, Stockley and Nola Martin of Blairsville, Rev. R.L. and Katharine Martin of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, a host of her church family, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 24, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Pastor Ray Potts and Rev. Guy Wayne Shook officiating. Special music will be presented by Martha Davenport. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers,Gary Martin, Terry Martin, Jerome Martin, Kem Jones, Danny Jones and Jeff Daniel. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Alvin Ledford.

Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Ray.

Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Ebenezer Cemetery Fund in Dorothy’s memory.

The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 pm.
