Miss Barbara Jean Smith age 82 of Wise Rd., Morganton formerly of Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Clay County Care Center following an extended illness.

 

Miss Smith was born on Nov. 7, 1933 in Toccoa, GA., the daughter of the late Adolph Steiner Smith and the late Gwendolyn Connell Smith. Barbara loved classical music, knitting, embroidering, watching t.v. and especially reading. She was a loving sister and aunt and was a friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents and, also, a brother, Durwood C. Smith and a sister, Jacqueline Camp. Miss Smith was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Miss Smith are one brother and sister in law, James A. Smith and Ruth McKinley of Morganton, nieces, Becky Phillips of Lawrenceville, Connie Adams of Duluth, great nieces, Lacey, Amanda, Stephanie and Katie, great nephew, Geoff, several great-great nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 4:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Travis Adams officiating. Interment and graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in McDonough, GA. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Barbara’s memory.
