Mrs. Virginia JoAnn Jacobs, age 77, of Briar Cove Rd. Morganton, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Mrs. Jacobs was born on November 27, 1938 in Athens, GA. JoAnn loved reading, gardening, camping, being outdoors, and spending time with her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. JoAnn was a member of Hemptown Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society.

Surviving Mrs. Jacobs are her loving husband and best friend of almost sixty years, John T. Jacobs, Sr. of Morganton, GA, two daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Michael Lee of Newnan, GA, Cheryl and Cliff Fisher of Dallas, GA, two sons and daughters-in-law, John T., Jr. and Crystal Jacobs of Powder Springs, GA, Russell and Lisa Jacobs of Atlanta, GA, two sisters, Dolores Brooks and Carol Lester both of Athens, GA, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt and Mae Nell Hamby, and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville, GA with Reverends David Whitener and Eric Davenport officiating. Interment and graveside services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 2:30 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-8:00 pm. If you wish, the family requests donating a Bible at www.gideons.org in JoAnn’s memory in lieu of flowers.
