Mrs. Janie Ruth Payne age 87 of Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday September 10, 2016 following an extended illness. Mrs. Payne was born on March 15, 1929 in Blue Ridge, GA., the daughter of the late Lee Early and the late Jane Crawford Early. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Janie loved her family, fishing, sewing, growing flowers, singing and her grand-daughters horse, Cody. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Payne Sr. in 1991; a son, Charles Payne; grandson, Anthony Payne; sisters: Edna Watts and Izora Stover; brothers: Cecil, Fred and Reese Early. Mrs. Payne was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Payne are five daughters and three son-in-laws, Brenda Moxley of Soperton, GA., Cynthia Hester of Blairsville, Wanda and Walter Sparks of Powder Springs, GA., Linda and Norman Seabolt of Blairsville, Sharon and Larry Trulove of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Rebecca Payne of West Virginia, eight grandchildren, Billy Jones, Kaley Hester, Hannah and Diana Payne, Stephanie Sparks, Heather Jefferies, Kevin Payne and Dr. Wesley Seabolt; eight great-grandchildren, Morgan, Mallory and Brycen Jones, Leah Seabolt, Kirsten Ledford, Kourtney, Karlee and Kinsley Payne; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with her grandson, Rev. Billy Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by Harold, Misty and Jonathan Crowder. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Jack. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Payne’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
