Mrs. Betty Jean Loomis age 90 of Hiawassee passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Loomis was born on May 7, 1926 in San Antonia, TX., the daughter of the late W.A. Clancy Sr. and the late Hazel Sigler Chancy. Betty loved painting, modeling, coloring and gourmet cooking. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harwood Loomis in Jan 2016, a brother, Buddy Clancy and two sisters, Tally Roop and Maryann Gunther, Mrs. Loomis was of the Episcopal faith.

Surviving Mrs. Loomis are one daughter and son in law, Judy and Bradley Hays of Hiawassee, one sister and brother in law, Patty and Dave Smith of Scottsdale, AZ., one granddaughter, Stacey and Edward Harper Jr. one great grandson, James Edward Harper, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Nov. 23, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Greg Bailey officiating. Special music will be presented by Greg Bailey. Interment and graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm from the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton where she will rest next to her beloved husband, William. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Union County Humane Society Mtn. Shelter in memory of Mrs. Loomis.
