Mrs. Azaline Emerson Harkins age 59 of Oak Tree Village Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday August 20, 2019 following a brief illness. Mrs. Harkins was born on Nov. 11, 1959 in Atlanta, GA., the daughter of Reba Chastain Emerson and the late James Lewis Emerson. Azaline loved playing all kind of games, was always very cheerful and loved all children. Most of all she loved her church and church family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Israel and four brothers, George, Donald, Lewis and Earnest Emerson. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Harkins was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Harkins are her loving husband and best friend of thirty seven years, Roger Eugene Harkins of Blairsville, one daughter and son in law, Barbara and Barry King of Blairsville, her mother, Reba Emerson of Blairsville, one sister and brother in law, Doshie and Clayton Richardson of Douglasville, three brothers and sisters in law, Jerome and Edith Emerson of Hixon, TN., David and Jill Emerson of Douglasville, Daniel and Bonnie Emerson of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Machalia Nelson and Brian Nelson, several nieces, nephews, a host of her church family, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 24, 2019 at 1:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Brian Mason and Chaplin Phil Gatlin officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Mike Ayers, Dan Navin, Dan Wickersham, Dick Cataldo, Ron Tanner and Jeff Ellison. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Azaline’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9:00 pm.
