Robert A. Dowd, age 69, of Sharewood Forest, Union County, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Aug 4, 2015. He was born in Miami, Fla. Growing up, he traveled with his military family to numerous duty stations including Guam and the Philippines. After college, he worked as a radio newscaster and for the N.J. governor. Mr. Dowd moved to this area in 2012 from Winter Haven, Fla. He was preceded in death by parents, James & Donna Dowd and brothers, Danny and Richard. He is survived by sister, Liz Warner (Joel) of Morganton, Ga., sister, Linda Vivian (Bill) of Ormond Beach, Fla., two nieces and three nephews. He was of the Baptist faith. A memorial service will be held in Florida at a later date. He will be interred in Miami, Florida. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of arrangements.
