Lynn Brown Spooner: Obituary

Obituaries

Lynn was born October 2, 1930 in Goldsboro, NC to the late Jefferson Grey and Lillian Walker Brown. 0n May 5, 1948, she married the love of her life, Erwin Spooner. She was preceded in death by her husband ‘Spooner’, her sister Betty Mickler, her brother Charles Brown, her sons David (‘Sonny’) and Sam, and her grandson Erin Meador.

Lynn is survived by her sister and best friend Fay Robinson, her son Michael and wife Pam, her daughters Pam Meador and husband Lonnie, and Renee Shelley and husband Larry. Lynn is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyle, Leanne, Hannah, and Ashley, and great grandchildren, Brandon, Erin, Rylan, Austin, Caiden, and Joy, and several nieces and nephews. Lynn retired from General Electric in 1990. She loved to travel. She took advantage of her retirement, always being ready to pack her bags with only a moments notice. In 1956 Lynn made a vow to her God Jehovah that she would witness for his name. She remained faithful to that vow right to the end. Her love for Jehovah and his son Jesus motivated her to teach her children the truths she learned from her careful study of the Holy Scriptures. That same love inspired her to volunteer much of her time and energy in a door to door ministry, sharing those Bible truths with others. Lynn moved to Hiawassee in 2015 and was a member of the Hiawassee Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Prior to that, she had been a member of the Sunset Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for decades.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10 at 3 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hiawassee. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. You may send condolences on line at www.mountainviewfuneralhome.com
