Mrs. Wanda June Brown age 95 of Dean Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday March 18, 2018 following an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was born on June 2, 1922 in Union County, the daughter of the late Bynum Walker and the late Laura Ellen Patterson Walker. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was a retiree from the State of Georgia with over twenty six years of service. She and her husband Jay owned and operated Bill’s Roller Rink for many years. June always was helping anyone who was in need. She loved her family and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband Annus Jay Brown in 1977, a brother, Scotty Walker and a sister, Mary Jo Daniel. June was a member of New Union Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Brown are two daughters and sons in law, Billie Sue and Jimmy Lunsford of Blairsville, Janice and Albert Norton of Blairsville, two sisters, Maxine Walker of Blairsville, Louise McAfee of Blairsville, three grandchildren, Travis and Sabrina Lunsford, Tracie and Jeff Shields, Ashley Norton, two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Breanna Shields, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Earl Bishop and Rev. Sharon Loylel offficiating. Special music will be presented by Carolyn Filer and Evan Hughes. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Travis Lunsford, Russell Walker, Jeff Odom, Greg Odom, Richie Walker and Steve Odom. Interment will follow in the Confidence Methodist Church Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Jay. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Confidence Church Cemetery Fund in June’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-9:00 pm.
