Mr. Gary “Buddy” Curtis Parnell age 67 of Loblolly Lane Blairsville passed away on Sunday August 23, 2015 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Parnell was born on August 22, 1948 in Waynesboro, MS., the son of the late Grover Curtis Parnell and the late Hazel Hinton Parnell. Buddy loved Alabama Football, fishing, NASCAR and watching t v, especially westerns. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Buddy was of the Baptist faith. Surviving Buddy are his loving wife and best friend of thirty four years, Betty Williams Parnell of Blairsville, , Amanda (William) Lawson of Blairsville, Stephanie (Charles) Vigor of Chunchula, AL., three sons, Buddy (Sherry) Parnell of Mobile, AL., Brian Parnell of Blairsville and Melvin Johnston of Blairsville, one sister, Sandra Johnson of Mobile, one brother, Charles (Kathy) Parnell of Virginia, eight grandchildren, Justin, Payton, Kaylee, Jade, Hailey, Jenna, Emma and Lula, many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Homer (Jason) Helton officiating. Special music will be presented by Debbie White. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Raymond Evans, Gordon White, Bradley Johnson, Paul Brewer, Charles Vigor, Jeff Hamler, Andrew Hamler and Christopher Plush. Interment will follow in the Meadow View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to His Lambs Our Lambs or to help defray expenses in Buddy’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8:00pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
