Norbert James Guettler of Blairsville, GA passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at the age of 89. He was born in Fort Pierce, FL on June 6, 1926. He graduated from St. Anastasia School. He is predeceased by his parents George & Christine Guettler, sister Mercedes (Riordan) Guettler. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia of 61 years. Daughter & son Cecilia and George Guettler Holland, son Kenneth Guettler, daughter Katrina Guettler, son Patrick Guettler (Julie), four grandchildren Jason, Kristi, Sierra and Elizabeth, two great grandchildren Mattie & Derrick Patrick also, siblings Mary, Elizabeth Noelke, George Guettler, Jo Anne Doychak, Cecilia Pruitt, Joseph Guettler (Anne). He is also survived by 175 nieces and nephews. Norbert and Patricia and family moved here from Fort Pierce, FL in 1976. Norbert was a founding member and 1st Assistant Chief of the Union County Station three Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a World War II Army veteran and served his country well. He was also a founding member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He built the First altar upon which mass was celebrated. He was minister of the Eucharist for over thirty years and 4th degree knight of the knights Columbus. He was also a volunteer for hospice and the Family Crisis Center. He will be fondly remembered by all who know him or were touched by him. The funeral mass and interment in Saint Clare’s Haven and will be September 18, 2015 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
