Mr. Fred Junior Shook age 79 of Ivy Log Gap Rd. Young Harris passed away on Thursday January 21, 2016 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Shook was born on Oct. 8, 1936 the son of the late Arthur Shook and the late Cloie Allison Shook. Fred was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County. He enjoyed hunting and reading. He was a member of the Stephens Masonic Lodge #414 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents and also three brothers, J.C., Loman and Loyal Shook. Fred was a member of West Union Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Shook are his loving wife and best friend of fifty two years, Mildred Moss Shook of Young Harris, four sons and daughters in law, Mike and Lauren Shook of Stockbridge, GA., Jerry and Lesia Shook of Blairsville, Randy and Susan Shook of Gainesville, Jamey and Karen Shook of Powder Springs, GA. one daughter and son in law, Pamela and Jake Forsyth of Blairsville, three sisters and two brothers in law, Louise Henderson, Shirley and Hines Hooper all of Young Harris, Edith and Wayne Tanner of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Clyde and Sandra Shook of Young Harris, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday Jan. 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the West Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Young, Rev. Bradley Thomas and Rev. Wayne Matheson officiating. Special music will be presented by Spirit Blessed and the Debbie Wilson Family. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Ryan Forsyth, Bryan Forsyth, Jake Forsyth, Kyle Shook, Cecil Shook and Cody Henderson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dan Nichols, Sam Nichols, Fred Smith, Phillip Brown, Wade Moss Jr. and Tim Matheson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the West Union Baptist Church on Sunday evening from 5-8:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
