The Union County Sheriff’s Office has reported it has received several calls from citizens who have received phone calls from someone claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. The callers are saying you won a LARGE amount of money. Then they are asking for personal information because you will have to pay taxes on that Large Amount of money you just WON!!
Just hang up or as one lady did give them the Sheriff’s Office address, 378 Beasley St. Blairsville, GA as they will be glad to collect the money and them.
The Sheriff’s office wants everyone to enjoy this beautiful day and stay alert for all the different ways people try to take your hard earned money such as IRS Scams (Remember…the IRS will not attempt contact with you by phone, email or text messages; only by USPS mail), Computer Hostage Scams (hacking into your computer and locking it down until you pay “Microsoft” several hundred dollars to unlock it) and the most recent is gentlemen going around saying they have leftover paving material. Ask them nicely to leave, if they don’t call the police.

Another is two ladies in a black Crown Vic. who are going around to local merchants in the Blairsville area saying that one of them is dying of throat cancer and needs money and will pay you back when she gets her SS settlement the following week.
