Mr. Otis “Ode” Salomon Young age 78 of Tanner Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 6, 2016 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mr. Young was born on August 8, 1937 in Union County, the son of the late Luther Young and the late Georgia Carney Young. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Ode was a lifetime employee at Young’s Fina Station. He loved cars, car shows and Coca Cola collecting. While in the nursing home he became an avid bingo player.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Young in 1979, a brother, Pat Young, five sisters, Willie Murphy, Fannie Duckworth, Hattie Payne, Mary Wright and Sarah Young. Ode was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Young are his loving wife and best friend of thirty four years, Sarah Lou Burrell Young of Blairsville, three daughters and sons in law, Virginia and Gary Sosebee of Blairsville, Becky and John Demar of Mineral Bluff, Amanda and Wesley Carroll of Blairsville, six grandchildren, Tyler Sosebee, Trent Sosebee, Hunter Demar, Chase Demar, Dakota Carroll and Dylan Carroll, several nieces, nephews, a host of church family, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Rogers and Rev. Tommy Seay officiating. Special music will be presented by the Liberty Baptist Church Choir. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Gary Sosebee, John Demar, Wesley Carroll, Tyler Sosebee, Trent Sosebee and Dakota Carroll. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Carroll, Hunter Demar and Chase Demar. Interment will follow in the Liberty Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Mr. Young’s memory.
The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. You may sign the family guest book and send condolences on line at www.mountainviewfuneralhome.com
