Mrs. Betty Marie Vanderlike age 95 of Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home on Monday May 16, 2016 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Vanderlike was born on April 16, 1921 in Detroit, MI., the daughter of the late La Vern H. Southerland and the late Bessie Western Southerland. Betty had worked with Ford Motor Company for over thirty years. After her retirement she started working for a CPA and worked until she was 86 years old. Betty always stayed physically fit. She was a kind and generous person and was a friend to many. She loved her dog Rambo who was always by her side. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Vanderlike in 2011. Mrs. Vanderlike was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Surviving Mrs. Vanderlike are one niece, Diane Dumas of Apache Junction, AZ., one nephew, Richard Miceli of St. Claire’s Shores, MI., two great nephews, Joseph and Thomas Gazarato, two great-great nieces and nephews, James and Francesica Gazerato, a host of her Wesley Mtn. Drive friends, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at 9:00 am from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Richard Wise officiating. Interment will follow in the Ga. National Cemetery in Canton where she will rest next to her beloved husband Robert. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or to the Union County Humane Society in Mrs. Vanderlike’s memory.
