Mrs. Martha May Porter age 91 of Spring Lake Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully on Saturday July 9, 2016 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Porter was born on August 7, 1924 in Mansfield, OH, the daughter of the late Harry J. Piper and the late Leona Pearl Mason Piper. Martha was an accomplished Poet, having her poetry published four times in the book American Poetry. She was an avid painter and loved painting at the Union County Senior Center. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Porter, two sons, Timothy and Patrick Timmons, daughter, Kim Timmons, two brothers, William and James Mason and a sister, Iona (Oney) Mason. Martha was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving Mrs. Porter are one daughter and son in law, Linda and Jim Timmons of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Stephen and Matthew Binkley,, Marina and Bobby Black and Angel Timmons, eight great grandchildren, Connor, Griffin, Chase and Madison Binkley, Brody, Cory and Levi Hayes and Silas Ancheta-Wilkins.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday July 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield Ohio. Interment will follow where she will rest next to her beloved parents. No local visitation is planned. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
