Mr. James Vincent Sammarco age 94 of Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville formerly of Lake Worth, FL. passed away peacefully on Monday August 8, 2016 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Sammarco was born on April 17, 1922 in Hoboken, NJ., the son of the late Joseph Sammarco and the late Assunta Aprea Sammarco. James was a veteran of the US Army of WWII and was on the WWII Registry. James loved making pizza for his friends and family and loved playing bingo. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Gusz Sammarco who passed away in 1991, four sisters, Genevieve Sammarco, Emily Bortolon, Anna Dipierro, Caroline Willitts, and one brother, Carl Sammarco. James was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving Mr. Sammarco are his daughter and son in law, Patti and David Mullins of Blairsville, and daughter and son in law Virginia and Charles Grimm of Reno, Nevada, six grandchildren, Michelle Densmore, Bryan Densmore, Michael Grimm, Denise Tan, Jonathan Grimm and Robyn Valverde. Thirteen Great Grandchildren, four Great-Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews along with a host of other family and friends also survive.

A memorial service for Mr. Sammarco is being planned by the family and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Spina Bifida Foundation in James’ memory. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
