Mrs. Bertha Lara Davenport age 67 of Blairsville passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 17, 2016 in the Piedmont Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Davenport was born on Feb. 16, 1949 in Union County, the daughter of Ina Lee Payne and the late Clyde Payne. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and music. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde and also a daughter, Penny Alice Davenport. Bertha was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Davenport are her loving husband of forty five years, Sammy Davenport of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Danny and Tracy Davenport of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Wendall and Frances Payne of Blairsville, one grand daughter, Sydney Davenport, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. David Crisp officiating. Special music will be presented by Sydney Davenport. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to help defray expenses in Mrs. Davenport’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
