Mrs. Donna Mae Hammond age 72 of Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday September 24, 2016 following an extended illness. Mrs. Hammond was born on Feb. 22, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN., the daughter of the late David Arnold and the late Mary Zane Arnold. Donna was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family, her pets and gardening. She was preceded in death by a son, Troy Johnson in 1988 and a sister, Dorothy Haukom in 2007. Donna was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Hammond are one daughter and son in law, Dana and Jason Thompson of Morganton, two sons, Michael Smith of Westville, FL., Jeffrey Johnson of Fossten, MN., six grandchildren, Shannon Dolinger, Dustin and Jacqueline Meeker, Cody and Chelsea (Taylor) Meeker, Austin Johnson, Kross Smith, Crystal Johnson, Danielle and Mickey Denmark, Jessica Sanchez, Megan Crawford and Hunter Finley, three great grandchildren, Jayden Meeker, Hollis Meeker and Cayden Meeker, many other relatives and friends also survive.

No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Donna’s memory.
